The school day officially begins at 7:45am and ends at 2:10pm.

Students should be unpacked and ready to begin learning at 7:45am. Therefore, arriving to school before 7:45am is highly advised, so that your child will not miss any instruction. 

Student breakfast and lunch is FREE to all Rock Hill Schools' students for 2025-2026.

Please park in a parking spot (not along the curb), and bring your child into the front office to check them in.

You will enter the car rider loop (on the right hand side when facing the school).

In the morning, pull around the loop. Once you have reached the sidewalk area where the Safety Patrol is, have your child exit the car on the passenger side. The Safety Patrol will ensure they follow the sidewalk safely to the entrance doors.

**The morning car line opens promptly at 7:00am. Students are not allowed to exit their car until that time. There will be no supervision until 7:00am.**The morning car line closes promptly at 7:40am to allow our safety patrol and teachers on duty to get to their classes. If you arrive after that time, please park in a spot at the front of the school and check your student in at the front office.

In the afternoon, place your school issued car tag in the front window and continue around the loop. Your student will be called to a numbered spot along the sidewalk. When you arrive to that spot, a safety patrol member will open your car door for your child.

**The afternoon car line closes promptly at 2:35pm. If you arrive after that time, please park in a spot at the front of the school and check your student out at the front office.

YES! However, if you don't have that car tag, no worries! We will send you to the front office to retrieve a new car tag, and then you can hop back in the car line.

**Please don't be mad...keeping each child safe is our top priority.
 

A written note, with the date and new mode of transportation home, must be sent in with your child to give to their teacher.

No early dismissals will occur after 1:45pm. 

Students may report to the school nurse with permission from a classroom teacher. All medication (including Tylenol, aspirin, cold medicine, prescription and over-the-counter medications) taken at school, should be signed over to the school nurse by a parent/guardian.

Visit the Health Services webpage on the school district's website and complete permission forms for Prescribed/Non-Prescribed Medications and Diet Order form. Bring these completed and signed by your physician along with the medication, to the school nurse during the first day or week of school.

When your student returns to school, they are to bring a note including their name, date of absence, reason for absence and contact telephone number. If the absence is medically related, please provide the doctor’s excuse.

Every teacher sends home weekly (or daily) communication. Communication Folders come home every Wednesday with weekly information and updates (check those backpacks). York Road has a variety of electronic ways to stay in touch. We send out regular email updates, so we need your email address! Also, additional information is provided through the school’s Facebook account and PTA pages. You will also receive telephone calls through the automated calling system which will inform you of important dates, events, and happenings around York Road Elementary.
